Indiana State Police identify man killed in officer-involved shooting at Lawrenceburg casino

LAWRENCEBURG — Investigators with the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post and the Dearborn County Coroner’s Office are releasing the identity of the man who died after being shot by police in an incident at the Hollywood Casino & Hotel in Lawrenceburg on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Milo L. Kirsh, 45, Avon. Officers from the Lawrenceburg Police Department were called to the fourth floor of the Hollywood Hotel in the early morning hours after Kirsh was acting erratically and had allegedly chased another guest with a knife, causing minor injuries.

Upon arrival, the officers learned that Kirsh was now firing a gun on the fourth floor where numerous other guests were staying.  Three officers went to the fourth floor where they quickly located Kirsh in the hallway.  An officer gave Kirsh orders to drop the handgun he was holding.  The evidence indicates that Kirsh began shooting with the officers returning fire.

Kirsh was struck and soon died at the scene as a result of the injuries he sustained.  None of the officers were injured.

Detectives with the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post were asked to conduct the investigation into the incident.  An autopsy was conducted on Kirsh today to determine the cause of death.  Those results are pending.

The investigation is ongoing.
