Harold F. Steigerwalt

Harold F. Steigerwalt passed away peacefully at home on October 18, 2024.

He was born on December 21, 1931, in New Castle, Indiana.

He attended Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana earning his undergraduate degree in Economics. After serving in the Army, he attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and received his MBA. His lifetime career was with Cummins Engine Company. He retired from Cummins in 1996. His 44 year career with Cummins Engine Company spans Atlas Crankshaft Plant in Fostoria, Ohio, Quincy Plant in Quincy, Illinois, the Walesboro Plant in Walesboro, Indiana and Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, Indiana.

In 1954, Harold married Eileen R. Cox, and together they raised four children.

Harold leaves behind his three remaining children, David (Denise) Steigerwalt of Orlando, Florida, Nancy (Edwin) Corbin of Danville, California, and Robert (Lori) Steigerwalt of Columbus, Indiana; five grandchildren, Michael Steigerwalt, Kayleigh (Adam) Jones, Lauren Steigerwalt, Matthew Corbin and Meaghan Corbin; two great grandchildren, Kieran Steigerwalt and Finnick Steigerwalt, a sister, Miriam Hummel of New Castle, Indiana.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Franklin and Nancy Irene Steigerwalt; his wife, Eileen Rosa Steigerwalt; his son, Charles Harold Steigerwalt; his brother in-laws, Harold Boyle, Eugene Cox and Earl Hummel and sister in-law, Martha Boyle.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2024 at First Lutheran Church, with Pastor Marjorie McDaniel officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Entombment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorials for Harold may be sent to First Lutheran Church Foundation and Hospice.
