Garry Steven Sedam

NORTH VERNON

Garry Steven Sedam, 69, of North Vernon, passed away at 10:20 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Silver Oaks Health Campus in Columbus.

Born February 27, 1955, in Seymour, he was the son of Phyllis Ann Mars Sedam and the late Robert Ray Sedam.

Garry was 1973 graduate of Jennings County High School and attended one year at Milligan College in Milligan, Tennessee. He drove a forklift for Martinrea for 40 years retiring in 2020. Garry attended the First Christian Church and was a former member of the North Vernon Moose Lodge. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, playing cards and watching his grandchildren play sports.

Survivors include his son, Alex (Ashley) Sedam of North Vernon; his daughters, Sara (Robert) Boardman of Scipio, and Stacy (Jason) Harmon of Seymour; mother, Phyllis Sedam of North Vernon; brother, Michael Ray (Janice) Sedam of Avon; sisters, Susan Lorraine (Dean) Jones of North Vernon and Jill Christine (Paul) Bell of Louisville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Kylee Boardman and Halle Boardman, both of Scipio, Stevie Sedam of Columbus, Kassidy (Caleb) Monroe, Landon Harmon and Rylie Harmon, all of Seymour, and Xander Sedam, and Carson Sedam, all of North Vernon; and one great-grandchild, Moses Monroe of Seymour.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Ray Sedam; grandson, Barrett Ray Sedam; and grandparents, Ernest and Ruby Sedam, and Forrest and Rosemary Mars.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Dove-Sharp &Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev James “Scooter” Upchurch officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Burial will be in the Dupont Cemetery in Dupont.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home in honor of Garry to the American Cancer Society.
