Thirty-four Club Olympia swimmers competed against 10 other swim club from Central and Southern Indiana in last weekend’s Spooky Sprints Classic at Franklin Central High School.
The boys placed second, scoring 1359.5 points to beat third-place Indiana Swim Club (formerly Bloomington Swim Club) with 1263.5. Greenfield Community Aquatics Team (GCAT) was fourth with 487 points.
The girls also placed second with 1077 points to beat GCAT with 859.5 points. In fourth place was Warriors Swim Team (Indianapolis) with 366 points.
With more than 140 swimmers, the host Flashes Aquatics, swept the Boys (2311.5 points), Girls (2725.5), and Overall Team scoring with 5037 points. Club Olympia scored 2436.5 to finish in second over-all, beating third-place Indiana Swim Club with 1605.5 points and fourth-place GCAT with 1346.5 points.
Leading the way for Club Olympia was Camila Mejia Murguia, who won the high point award for the 11-12-year-old Girls with 189 points. She won the 50-yard freestyle, 50 backstroke, 100 backstroke, 50 buterfly, 100 butterfly, 100 individual medley 200 IM. She also placed second in the 100 freestyle, third in the 50 breaststroke and 200 freestyle. Camila, still 12, is less than one-tenth of a second off the Age Group State cut for the 13-14 100 backstroke and less than a second off the cut in the 200 IM.
Rebeca Mejia Murguia finished second to her sister in high point scoring with 157 points. She finished in second place in the 11-12 Girls 50 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke and the 50 freestyle; third in the 50 butterfly, 100 butterfly and 100 IM; fourth in the 100 freestyle and 200 IM and fifth in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Rebeca is just 1.01 seconds off an Age Group State cut in the 13-14 Girls 100 breaststroke.
The Mejia Murguia sisters combined with Lily Pendleton and Gargi Gupta to place second in the 11-12 Girls 200 freestyle relay and with Cali Gray and Vibha Nagiligari to take second in the 200 medley relay.
Pendleton, swimming on just two days and in six events, scored 79 points by placing fifth in the 11-12 Girls 50 backstroke and 50 butterfly; sixth in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 200 IM and seventh in the 100 IM. Nagiligari scored 47 points by placing ninth in the 11-12 Girls 50 Butterfly; 10th in the 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle and 200 IM; 11th in the 50 breaststroke and 50 freestyle and, 12th in the 100 IM.
Gray placed 11th in the 11-12 Girls 50 backstroke, 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle; 13th in the 50 breaststroke; 14th in the 100 IM; 15th in the 50 backstroke and 16th in the 100 backstroke to score 37 points. Gupta scored 21 points by placing 11th in the 11-12 Girls 200 IM, 12th in the 200 freestyle, 13th in the 50 backstroke, 14th in the 100 butterfly and 16th in the 50 butterfly and 100 freestyle. Also competing after recently aging up to the 11-12 age group was Bhavika Rastogi who achieved three best times and a top 20 finish in the 100 IM.
Myra Jaryal finished in third in high point scoring for the 9-10 Girls. She scored 159 points by placing second in the 50 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly; third in the 50 butterfly, 50 freestyle, 100 IM and 200 IM; fourth in the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle and fifth in the 100 backstroke. Jaryal, just 9, has six 10&U Age Group State cuts and is less than three-tenths of a second away in two more events.
Eva Rayomand and Bella Zhang placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 10U Girls age group. Rayomand finished with 109 points by placing fourth in the 50 breaststroke, 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly; fifth in the 50 butterfly and 100 IM; seventh in the 100 freestyle and eighth in the 100 backstroke. Zhang finished with 99 points by placing third in the 100 breaststroke; fourth in the 50 backstroke; fifth in the 50 breaststroke; sixth in the 100 backstroke; seventh in the 100 butterfly and 100 IM, eighth in the 50 butterfly and 11th in the 50 Free.
Jaryal, Rayomand and Zhang combined with Neeti Gujarathi to finish in second in the 10U Girls 200 freestyle relay. Those three also combined with Aarini Gallege to place second in the 200 medley relay.
Gujarathi scored 31 points, swimming on only one day, by placing seventh in the 10U Girls 50 freestyle, ninth in the 50 backstroke, 10th in the 100 IM and 14th in the 50 butterfly. Gallege, swimming in just her second swim meet, placed as high as 24th in the 10&U Girls 100 backstroke, as a 7 year old.
Also swimming on just one day was Misheeta Pal, who scored 40 points, placing seventh in the 10&U Girls 50 butterfly, eighth in the 50 backstroke and 100 IM, and 11th in the 100 freestyle.
Chad Pendleton and Vivan Shah led the 10&U Boys by finishing with 117 and 145 points, respectively. Chad Pendleton, swimming on just two days, finished in first place in five out of six events, including the 10U 50 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 IM and 200 IM to finish sixth in high point scoring. He also was second in the 50 butterfly. Shah, second in high point scoring, finished second in the 10U 50 backstroke, 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly; third in the 50 breaststroke, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 100 IM and fourth in the 50 butterfly and 50 freestyle.
Pendleton and Shah combined with Sarthak Desmukh and Max Tempest to win the 10U 200 freestyle relay. Tempest, who recently aged out of the 8U division, scored 122 points to finish in fifth in high point for the 10U Boys. He finished third in the 200 IM; fifth in the 100 freesytle and 200 freestyle; sixth in the 100 IM; seventh in the 50 breaststroke, 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly and ninth in the 50 backstroke and 100 backstroke. Desmukh was seventh in high point with 104 points earned by placing fourth in the 10U 100 IM; fifth in the 50 breaststroke and 50 butterfly; sixth in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly; seventh in the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle and eighth in the 50 backstroke.
Shah, Tempest and Deshmukh combined with Vihaan Gallege to take second in the 10U 200 medley relay. Gallege scored 47 points by placing eighth in the 10U 50 breaststroke and 100 butterfly, ninth in the 100 IM, 10th in the 50 freestyle, 11th in the 50 backstroke, 15th in the 100 backstroke and 16th in the 100 freestyle.
Shreyan Kulkarni finished in third in high point scoring in the 11-12 Boys age group with 141 points. He placed third in the 200 IM; fourth in the 50 backstroke, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 100 IM and 200 freestyle; fifth in the 100 butterfly; sixth in the 50 butterfly, seventh in the 50 breaststroke and eighth in the 50 freestyle.
Arjun Agarkar was fifth in high point scoring for 11-12 Boys. Agarkar scored 127 points by placing third in the 50 butterfly; fourth in the 100 freestyle; fifth in the 100 IM; sixth in the 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke, 50 freestyle, and 200 IM; seventh in the 200 freestyle and ninth in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly.
Xavier Zhang tied for sixth in high point with 115 points by placing fifth in the 11-12 Boys 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 200 IM; seventh in the 50 backstroke, 50 butterfly and 100 Butterfly; eighth in the 100 backstroke and 100 IM; ninth in the 50 freestyle and 11th in the 50 breaststroke.
Adir Joshi scored 46.5 points by placing sixth in the 11-12 Boys 100 breaststroke, seventh in the 100 freestyle, ninth in the 50 backstroke, 10th in the 50 breaststroke and 11th in the 100 butterfly.
Agarkar, Joshi, Kulkarni and Zhang combined to place second in the 11-12 Boys 200 freestyle relay and third in the 200 medley relay.
Shourya Malviya scored 45 points by placing ninth in the 11-12 Boys 50 butterfly, 10th in the 50 backstroke and 100 butterfly, 11th in the 100 freestyle and 100 IM, 13th in the 50 freestyle and 14th in the 50 breaststroke and 100 backstroke. Competing on just one day, Chris Suo scored 20 points, placing 10th in the 100 backstroke, 11th in the 50 freestyle, 12th in the 100 butterfly and 15th in the 50 breaststroke.
Misha Machavariani, competing on two days, finished fourth in high point for the 15-and-over Boys with 106 points by placing first in the 100 butterfly; third in the 100 breaststroke; fourth in the 100 backstroke, 200 freestyle and 200 IM; sixth in the 100 freestyle and seventh in the 50 freestyle. Also competing on just two days was Ethan Hall, who scored by placing fifth in the 15O Boys 200 backstroke, eighth in the 100 backstroke, 10th in the 100 breaststroke, 14th in the 100 butterfly and 16th in the 200 IM. Todd Hundley, competing on one day, scored by placing third in the 15O Boys 100 backstroke, fourth in the 200 breaststroke and ninth in the 100 butterfly.
Joshua Pendleton won all of the 13-14 Boys events he swam in on the first two days of the competition to score 100 points. He won the 50 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly and 400 IM. Despite of not swimming on the final day, he still finished second in the 13-14 high point scoring.
Daxton Wolf scored 31 points in four 13-14 Boys events by finishing in fifth in the 500 freestyle, sixth in the 200 backstroke, 14th in the 100 breaststroke and 16th in the 100 freestyle. Derek Wang and Landon Colton also scored points by placing eighth and 11th, respectively, in the 13-14 Boys 200 breaststroke.
Grey Bateman, who recently aged up to the 13-14 age group, scored 63 points by placing fifth in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, sixth in the 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke and ninth in the 200 freestyle. Sanaa Kulkarni scored 46 points by placing fourth in the 15O Girls 400 IM; 10th in the 200 breaststroke and 500 freestyle; 11th in the 100 breaststroke; 13th in the 100 butterfly; 14th in the 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke and 16th in the 200 IM. Nandini Kondhare just missed scoring in the 15&O Girls 200 Backstroke, finishing 17th.
Donner swims in pair of meets
Donner Swim Club’s 11-and-Older swimmers participated in the Rivi Fall Classic at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis.

Donner Swim Club’s 10-and-under swimmers participated in the Franklin Central Spooky Sprints. With more than 90% lifetime best times throughout the weekend, the 21 10Us finished eighth overall.
Emmerson Barrett scored 71 points, finishing top 10 and qualifying for Indiana Divisionals in all six of her events. Her best finish was a fourth in the 100 backstroke.
Haley Schofield scored 31 points, finishing top 10 in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly, and achieved lifetime best times in four of her six events.
Danalyn Castelan scored 26 points, had a top 10 finish in the 100 butterfly and achieved lifetime best times in all of her events.
Ellie Winters scored 12 points, had five out of six top-20 finishes and achieved lifetime best times in the 100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke.
Kennedy Greer-Bos scored five points, and achieved lifetime bests in the 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle.
Abhyud Ponnathpur scored 32 points with three top-10 finishes and lifetime bests in the 100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 50 freestyle, 100 backstroke and 50 breaststroke. x
The previous weekend, Donner’s 11-and-Olders participated in the Rivi Fall Classic at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis. Donner finished seventh out of 16 teams. The team of 37 swimmers ended up with 85% lifetime best times, and numerous top-10 finishes and Indiana Divisional Qualifying Times.
Ella Bringman scored 52 points, had six top 10s and achieved lifetime best times in six of her eight events and qualified for Divisionals in seven events.
Ellie Fitzsimmons scored six points, had two top 10s, had lifetime best times in four of her six events and qualified for Divisionals in five events.
Sienna Isaac scored 11 points, had lifetime bests in all of her events, had one top 10 and qualified for Divisionals in the 200 backstroke.
Emily McIntier scored nine points, finished top 10 in all six of her events achieved lifetime bests in five of her seven events and qualified for Divisionals in three events.
Emily Meek scored 90 points, achieved lifetime bests in two of her six events and qualified for Divisional in all six of her events.
Mridula Muthukumaran scored 93 points, achieved top 10s in six of her seven events and qualified for Divisionals in all seven of her events.
Abby Proffitt scored 38 points, had lifetime best times in six of her seven events, had four top 10s and qualified for Senior Indiana Divisionals in all seven of her events.
Cora Tregoning scored 20 points, had lifetime best times in four of her seven events, had three top 10s and qualified for Senior Divisionals in five events.
Cooper Bringman scored 59 points, had six top 10s and qualified for Divisionals in all seven of his events.
Ian Bringman scored 50 points, had six of seven lifetime bests and top-10 finishes.
Jack Fitzsimmons scored five points, had lifetime bests in all of his events and qualified for Divisionals in the 50 freestyle.
Ritvik Prithiviraj scored 65 points, had seven top 10s, had lifetime bests in five of his seven events and qualified for Divisionals in six events.
Aarav Sriram scored 46 points, had five of six lifetime bests, five top 10s and qualified for Divisionals in all six of his events.
Shabarirajan Thangaraj scored 13 points, had three top 10s, four out of seven lifetime bests and qualified for Divisionals in four events.
