BOYS BASKETBALL

BLOOMINGTON — Six of Bloomington Lighthouse’s nine 3-pointers came in the first quarter, when the Lions jumped out to a 24-15 lead on its way to a 61-42 win against Columbus Christian on Friday night.

“We knew going in they were going to shoot it from the 3-point line, and we couldn’t get closed out on their 3-point shooters,” Columbus Christian coach Kevin Roth said.

Logan Roth led the Crusaders (19-7) with 13 points. Payton Ingram and Evan Reed each added 10.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Stars escape Panthers

BEDFORD — Jennings County led by as many as 11 in the first half, but Bedford North Lawrence rallied for a 39-38 win in the semifinals of the Bedford Sectional.

The Stars missed three front end of one-and-ones and, leading 39-36, missed a pair with 23 seconds remaining, allowing the Panthers a chance at a tie with a 3-pointer. After a simultaneous possession with 5.2 seconds left, Sidney Gerkin missed a 3-pointer, and Brooklyn Gaines put in a rebound basket at the buzzer.

Gaines led Jennings (12-13) with 14 points. Gerkin added 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Crusaders fall to Lions

BLOOMINGTON — Bloomington Lighthouse jumped out to a 35-9 halftime lead and went on to hand Columbus Christian a 54-15 loss.

Madison Henderson led the Crusaders (3-16) with five points.
