NORTH VERNON

On Monday, December 28, 2020, Ella Mae Beverly, 82, of North Vernon, went home to be with the Lord and to be reunited with her four small children that had gone on before.

The love of Ella Mae’s life was taking care of her home and family. The other love of Ella Mae’s life was attending church and listening to the uncompromised preaching of God’s word and singing the Old Gospel hymns. She was a member of Living Word Baptist Church in Seymour.

Ella Mae was born May 2, 1938, in Indianapolis and was the daughter of Katherine and Sylmore Longelin. Ella Mae’s family moved to North Vernon when she was 12 years old. Here she was raised on a farm alongside her four sisters and one brother. She was the faithful wife of Isaac Beverly, and they wed on February 22, 1958, in Brewersville.

She is survived by her husband, Isaac Beverly of North Vernon; son, John (Michelle McCasland) Beverly of Scipio; sisters, Hazel Wainscott and Kian (David) Strope, both of Scipio, Sandra Fletcher of North Vernon, and Glinda (TL) Roseberry of Nebraska; and brother, James “Jim” (Barbara) Longelin of North Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her father; her mother; and her and Isaac’s four young children, Jackie Sue, Debra Jo, Paula Jean, and Lonnie Dale.

A memorial service for Ella Mae will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2021, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon.
