COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Emergency Management has changed the county’s travel status to a Watch Level – Orange.

Watch level means that conditions are threatening to the safety of the public. During a “watch” local travel advisory, only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended, and emergency action plans should be implemented by businesses, schools, government agencies, and other organizations.

Indiana State Police, Columbus Police, Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies and INDOT are on the scene of numerous accidents on I-65, several involving semis.

Cleanup is also continuing from steel parts being dumped on the interstate near the 68 mile marker at Columbus, where about 20 vehicles had flat tires.
