Raymond L. Cobb, 81, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021 surrounded by his loved ones. Ray was born January 4, 1940 in Pampa, TX to Willie Cobb and Lola Snow. He married Joyce D. Cox on January 29, 1967 in Columbus, IN.

Raymond joined the United States Army in 1960 where he served for 6 years. While enlisted he received the Good Conduct, Expert Marksman, & Vietnam Service medals. After his honorable discharge he moved to Indiana to marry Joyce and began work at Golden Foundry. He went on to work several places during his family’s time between the LaBelle, Florida and Columbus, Indiana areas including: Cummins, Hendry County School System, Florida Department of Transportation, Ventra and Diamet/PMG before ultimately retiring (a third time) from EMS/Fair Oaks Mall.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1987 and the American Legion Post 24. Additionally he was an active member of the Double Y Saddle Club for nearly 30 years where he enjoyed camping with his family and horses.

In addition to his broad and cheerful smile, Ray will be remembered for his giving spirit, incredible work ethic, and being the first to the dance floor. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Cobb as well as his daughters Mary Ann (Cobb), Angelique (Cobb), Janie (Meek), Sandy (Cobb), and Lori (Cobb); sons Brian (Meek) and Joshua (Cobb) and 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren as well as sister Betty Jo Kitts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Cobb and Lola Snow, as well as his brother Walter and daughter Margret.

A memorial service for Raymond will be held Sunday, June 13 at 1:30pm at Myers-Reed Chapel with Pastor Mark officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Bartholomew County Honor Guard. Visitation will be held prior to and immediately after the service (12pm – 3pm). In accordance with Raymond’s wishes, his body will be cremated.
