Drivers are getting tickets for ignoring new stoplight on County Road 450S

COLUMBUS, Ind. — The Indiana Department of Transportation has installed a new traffic light at County Road 450S and Jonesville Road, where previously there had been a four-way stop.

Some motorists are continuing to treat the intersection as a four way stop, which it is not, meaning that drivers must stop while they have the red light, Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies said.

Deputies have already issued two citations and made four arrests at the intersection, according to the department.

If you drive in this area, please make sure that you come to a full stop when your traffic light is red and that you do not proceed through the intersection until your light is green,” the sheriff’s department said in a press release. “Please make sure there is no oncoming traffic before you proceed through the intersection even though your light is green,” the release stated.
