Marketplace: Toyota presents 750,000 forklift to Carter Express

Toyota Material Handling reached a manufacturing milestone in May with the production of the 750,000 forklift to roll off the line at the company’s 1.5 million-square-foot facility in Columbus.

Toyota and its local dealer Kenco Toyota-Lift in Huntsville, Alabama, presented the forklift and commemorative key to customer Carter Express at a ceremony in Huntsville.

Carter Express, an end-to-end supply chain management company based in Anderson (Indiana), is the plant logistics provider for Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, a joint venture automobile manufacturing facility in Huntsville.

Carter Express will deploy the 750,000 Toyota forklift and more than 100 other units at the Mazda Toyota facility where the recently announced Toyota Corolla Cross SUV will be built. The plant also plans to manufacture electric vehicles in the future.

The 750,000 forklift is an electric model launched by Toyota Material Handling last year, and the first to be completely designed and developed by the engineering team in Columbus.
