The owner of Q-Mix, KORN and other radio stations requested a variance to allow replacement of a 100-foot-tall tower near Eighth and Washington streets, a densely populated area bordered by homes and other businesses, with one twice its height.

In formal Flag Day ceremonies, representatives of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars donated and raised a new flag on the pole in front of City Hall.
