State: 240 additional Hoosiers diagnosed with COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Health said 240 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories. That brings to 749,835 the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.

To date, 13,332 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of seven from the previous day. Another 420 probable deaths have been reported to date based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record.

A total of 3,546,442 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana, up from 3,543,982 on Monday. A total of 10,671,209 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26, 2020.

Bartholomew County reported 8,162 positive tests (no change) with 157 deaths (no change) as of Tuesday.

Surrounding counties reported:

  • Jackson County: 5,087 positive cases (up one) with 74 deaths (no change).
  • Jennings County: 2,352 positive cases (up one) with 49 deaths (no change).
  • Decatur County: 2,899 positive cases (no change) with 92 deaths (no change).
  • Shelby County: 5,008 positive cases (no change) with 97 deaths (no change).
  • Johnson County: 18,412 positive cases (up six) with 388 deaths (no change).
  • Brown County: 1,039 positive cases (no change) with 43 deaths (no change).

Hoosiers age 12 and older can receive a COVID-19 vaccine; individuals younger than age 18 are eligible for the Pfizer vaccine only. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are accepted at most sites.

As of today, a total of 5,425,240 doses have been administered in Indiana. This includes 2,733,554 first doses and 2,691,686 individuals who are fully vaccinated. The fully vaccinated number represents individuals who have received a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines and those who received the single Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
