Driver rescued after entering flooded roadway

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Sheriff Swift Water Rescue Team rescued a female driver after she attempted to drive through a flooded roadway at West County Road 250S and South County Road 400W.

The team was called out at 5:15 p.m. after the woman reported her 2019 silver Nissan passenger car was being flooded with water.

The female was able to exit the vehicle and climb on top of the Nissan. When deputies and
Columbus Township Fire Department arrived, they rescued the driver from the top of the vehicle.
No injuries were reported

Bartholomew County Sheriff Matthew A. Myers reminds drivers to not attempt to drive through high water. Six inches of water can reach the bottom of most
passenger cars, leading to loss of control or stalling. One foot of water will float most vehicles away.
