County expecting 2 to 3 inches of rain between now and next Wednesday

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Emergency Management has issued the following weather statement regarding possible severe weather today, Friday and this weekend. From Shannan Cooke, emergency management director:

“Thunderstorms are possible late today over northwestern sections of central Indiana. More showers and thunderstorms will march across the area this weekend and through the middle of next week. Given the expected amounts and recent flooding that has left soils saturated, there is growing concern of more flooding. Highest rainfall amounts are expected over the northern Wabash Valley.

Bartholomew County is under a Marginal Risk for severe weather Friday with damaging wind and large hail being the primary threat but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.  Rainfall is what we will be monitoring most over the next several days.  At this time, Bartholomew County is predicted to get two to three inches (2-3”) of rain from today through Wednesday night.  The heavier rainfall that was predicted earlier has moved farther north and west.  At this time Bartholomew County is not under any Watches or Warnings.
