COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus police officers arrested a local man on a felony charge Wednesday evening after he was accused of making threats with a large knife at a Columbus apartment building.
Shortly before 10:30 p.m., CPD officers were dispatched to the 2700 block of Williamsburg Court in regards to the incident. When officers arrived, they spoke with two men who were cleaning a flooded apartment, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
The men advised that Robert M. Shoup, 49, of Columbus, who resides in the apartment building where they were working, threatened them with a large knife because he thought they were making too much noise, Harris said.
A short time later Shoup was located and taken into custody. The officers also recovered a large knife. Shoup was given a portable breath test and provided a breath sample of .338%.
Shoup was placed under arrest and transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for medical clearance and later remanded to the Bartholomew County Jail on a preliminary charge of intimidation with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony, police said.
