COLUMBUS
Judy A. Axsom, 74, of Columbus passed from this life on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at 2:53 a.m. at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Axsom was born on April 15, 1947, in Seymour, Indiana the daughter of Kenneth L. and Norma Maxine Lucas Fish. On May 7, 1967, in Seymour at Calvary Baptist Church she married Hershel L. Axsom.
Mrs. Axsom was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Foresters and attended Who So Ever Will Community Church. For 25 years she and her husband enjoyed pastoring Gorbett’s Chapel Church in Freetown. Some of her greatest joys were singing and teaching Sunday school.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Hershel L. Axsom of Columbus; children, John (Karolyn) Axsom of Columbus and Lori (Gary) Smock; seven grandchildren; and siblings, Kenneth R.”Rick” (Diane) Fish of Freetown and Shelia Fish of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The funeral will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Rev. Della Hamilton officiating. Family and friends may call for visitation from 10:00 a.m. till time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given through the funeral home to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or Donor’s Choice.
