SHELBYVILLE — The Shelby County Sheriff Department said a Shelbyville man died in a traffic accident in the 8300 block of West State Road 44 at 6:50 p.m. Friday.
Deputies said a Dodge Caravan being driven eastbound by Javier Torres, 34 of Shelbyville crossed into the westbound lanes, colliding head-on with a Chevrolet pickup traveling westbound.
The truck was driven by Kellen Lawson, 18, of Shelbyville, deputies said.
Torres was pronounced dead at the scene. Lawson was transported to IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis in stable condition. There were no other passengers in either vehicle, deputies said.
