Trinity wins regional

SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran captured the first regional title in school history with a 5-2 regional win against West Washington on Tuesday.

The Cougars (14-8), who avenged a 16-1 regular-season loss to the Senators, broke a 2-2 tie for with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Kamzi Gross threw a four-hitter with 14 strikeouts and had two hits and two RBIs at the plate.

Trinity moves on to Saturday’s North Daviess Semistate, where it will play Class A No. 2 Hauser in the semifinals at 10:30 a.m.. The semistate final is at 7 p.m. Saturday.

BOYS GOLF

Bull Dogs finish ninth

ZIONSVILLE — Luke Schneider finished second individually with a 74 to lead No. 16 Columbus North to a ninth-place finish in the Zionsville Invitational at Golf Club of Indiana.

The Bull Dogs finished with a 339 team total. Bloomington South won with a 306.

Tyler Wilks carded an 86 for North. John Merritt added an 89, Jack Schiavello shot 90 and Brady Schneider had a 95.

East falls to Cougars

Pierce Arnholt won medalist honors with a 4-over-par 76, but Columbus East fell to Bloomington North 324-334 at Otter Creek.

Carter Greene added an 88 for the Olympians. Ben Luedeke added an 86, Jared Brooks shot 88, Spencer Erfmeier had a 91, J.T. Kuhlman shot 95 and Conrad Eggers finished with a 114.

Lancers take second

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh finished second in a tri match at Timbergate. Southwestern (Shelby) outscored the Lancers 189-199, and Oldenburg Academy did not have enough golfers to score as a team.

Max Blandford won medalist honors with a 41 to lead Edinburgh. Trevor Moon carded a 51, Cash Cunningham added a 52, Wyatt Burton shot 53, Mason Calhoun had a 55, Keegan Smith shot 57, Devyn Milburn had a 58 and Devin Hamilton finished with a 62.
