COLUMBUS
Debra J. Stephens, 65, of Columbus, passed away at 8:35 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2022 at home.
Debra was born September 28, 1956, in Columbus, Indiana, the daughter of Carl Banks and Betty Ann Evans Banks. On December 1, 1973, she married Danny Ray Stephens.
Playing Yahtzee, spending time with family and playing bingo were among Debra’s favorite things to do. Her sense of humor and numerous dishes that she enjoyed cooking will not be forgotten. Debra will be missed by those that knew her best.
Survivors include her children, Lori (Matthew) Mitchell, Davia Stephens, Eric (Amber) Stephens, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Carter, Ali, Kierra, Kayla, Ethan, Mason; great-grandchildren, Kaison, Dariezen, Anieko; siblings, Sherry Burton of Columbus, Karen (Marty) Stephens of North Vernon, Patsy (Tommy) Miller of Shelbyville, Rex Banks, also of Columbus, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Danny.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Alan Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
In keeping with the family’s request, cremation will take place after the service and inurnment will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery at a later date.
