NORTH VERNON
Charles W. “Bill” Robbins, 85, of North Vernon, passed away at 1:49 p.m. on Monday, September 5, 2022, at Our Hospice Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 9, 2022, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Connie Barr will officiate. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Masonic service beginning at 7:30 p.m., on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at the funeral home.
Born on April 23, 1937, in Vernon, Bill was the loving son of Cecil Archie and Elizabeth Louise (Randall) Robbins. He was united in marriage to Rosalee Deloris Clarkson on September 29, 1957 at Pleasant View Church. She preceded him in death on August 17, 2002.
Bill graduated from Vernon High School in 1955. He retired in 1994 after working for Cummins for 34 years. He was a member of New Bethel United Methodist Church. Bill was a very active member of the North Vernon Masonic Lodge #59 FAM for 59 years, where he served as Treasurer and Past Master. He was also a member of the Murat Shrine, Knights Templar, and Scottish Rite. Bill loved taking children to the Shrine Circus and the Shriner’s Hospital over the years. He was most proud of his contributions to the Bartimaeus Lodge. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed junking, collecting coins, working sudoku puzzles, telling stories, and reading Louie Lamour Westerns. Bill especially loved the women in his life and loved his food!
Bill is survived by his son, Jeff (Jackie) Robbins of Westport; daughters, Charla (John Doran) Nash of North Vernon, and Cheryl (Chris) Graham of Charlestown; sister, Patricia (Bill Robertson) of North Vernon; companion, Linda Day of North Vernon and her children, Heida (Rodney) Garrett, Terry (Tamera) Day, and Jan Day; grandchildren, Spencer, Corbin, and Conner Robbins, Cassie and Tori Nash, Allison Roach, Michelle Beville, Danielle Linch, Johnathan and Samantha Garrett, Janaye Day, Randi Hughes, Cole and Steele Day; great grandchildren, Althea Robbins, Lorelei and Lukas Beville, Liam Robinson, Lillian Roach, Alexis, Raelyn, and Rieleh Hughes, Kasen and Corbin Linch.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Elizabeth Robbins; wife, Rosalee “Peggy” Robbins; daughter, Charlene Robbins; sisters, Karen Miles, Donna Robbins.
