Robert Jason Tiede, 48, of Columbus, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at his home surrounded by family.
Robert was born February 8, 1974 in Fullerton California, the son of David Allen Tiede.
He obtained his Associate degree at University Technical Institute in Arizona and became a diesel mechanic for the next 30 years. He worked as a military contractor for the United States Department of Defense, traveling overseas to Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait assisting the special operations community there.Robert loved kayaking, camping, and playing frisbee. He also enjoyed firearms. He was an avid Colts fan and in his spare time liked woodworking and hanging out family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Tiede; siblings, Lisa, Curt, Cheryl, Ray; nephew, Emilio; nieces, Brittnay, Ella, Rosa and brother in law Joe; father, David and his wife, Sherry and “favorite” mother-in-law, Rachel.
He was preceded in death by his mom, Sandy.
In keeping with the family’s request, cremation will take place and visitation only will be held Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike. There will be no formal memorial service at the funeral home. Donations are being accepted to be given to the Robert Tiede Memorial Fund which can be given to the funeral home. This fund will be created in his memory and given to charity in his honor.
