COLUMBUS

Audrey Jersun Williams, 84, of Columbus, passed from this life at home on Friday, November 18, 2022.

Audrey was born in McKees Rocks, PA on November 29, 1937, to Michael and Stella Landonsky Jersun. Both of her parents were of Lithuanian heritage, with her father immigrating to the United States from Lithuania at age 17. She earned the nickname “Buzzy Bee” as a small child due to her busyness, buzzing around and inquiring mind. This was later a term of endearment between her and her husband John.

An accomplished artist growing up, Audrey was also the lead in the high school play and Valedictorian of Stowe High School class of 1955. She graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1959 with a degree in Elementary Education and was active in the Kappa Delta sorority while in college.

Audrey married her high school sweetheart John Williams on June 13, 1959, in McKees Rocks, PA. Soon after, they moved to Columbus, IN, where John started work as an Engineer at Cummins Engine Company and Audrey taught 3rd and 6th grade for a few years prior to starting a family.

In addition to staying home to raise her 3 children, Audrey was also involved in many different activities over the years, including being an active member of First Christian Church, Columbus ProMusica, Donner Swim Club, Columbus Antique Club, China Painters Guild of Indiana and Columbus Herb Society. She was also an avid bridge player and played with the same group of friends for decades. Audrey had a passion for interior decorating and she and John owned Crystal Cove Interiors in Columbus for several years. Audrey also loved flowers and gardening and became a Master Gardener with her husband after his retirement from Cummins . They also enjoyed attending auctions together and scouring Antique shops for collectibles in their later years.

Audrey and John’s first love in life was their children, J. Christopher (Cheryl) Williams of Green Bay, WI, David (Rachel) Williams of Columbus, and Jennifer Williams Vedadi (Jason Moore) of Columbus. Audrey was also the proud grandmother to eight grandchildren: Anna, Skyler and John Williams, Seth Williams, and Darian, Keyahn, Kharren and Armahn Vedadi. Audrey was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John, on May 11, 2022, and her sister Ruth Sokol. She is survived by her niece Deborah (Michael) Devine and great nephew Rudy Devine.
