FLAT ROCK

Robert “Bob” Terry passed away peacefully at the age of 89 in Flat Rock, Indiana surrounded by his loving family. Born in Superior, Wisconsin to parents William and Alma Terry, Bob later moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where he spent his early years. He went on to earn his Associate of Arts degree at the University of Minnesota.

As a Navy veteran, he proudly served on the Destroyer, USS Everett F. Larson, during the Korean War. He was honored for his military service with an invitation to visit the nation’s capital memorials in Washington, D.C. along with other veterans associated with the Honor Flight organization.

In 1978, he married June Terry and together they built a home on Tamerix Lake. He loved the lake and was an avid fisherman. They spent many adventurous years driving their RV to destinations that included his favorite Brown County State Park and across the country to visit family. Bob was a skilled woodworker, a skill he passed on to three generations. He always had a project or two on his workbench and several planned.

Bob had a long and successful career in sales and made many lifelong friends. After leaving the sales profession, he found his most rewarding job as a substitute high school teacher in the Bartholomew County School District. He was beloved by the faculty, staff, and students and was recognized for his dedicated service upon his retirement. In the past years, he was a regular member of the Just Friends group in Columbus, Indiana where he enjoyed making crafts, socializing, and meeting new people. For the last two years, Bob lived happily with his granddaughter, Jessica Conover and her family in Flat Rock.

He will be greatly missed by his children, Anne Falk (Phil) of Seattle, Washington; Michael Indigo, Sr. (Maho) of Nagoya, Japan, Carl Workman (Sun) of Columbus, Indiana, Michele Wyatt of Foley, Alabama, daughter-in law, Jennifer Workman of Newnan, Georgia; grandchildren, Naomi Falk, Matthew Falk (Lisa), Michael Indigo, Jr., Christine Mauthe (Marty), Jessica Conover (Rusty), Keith Workman (Amanda), Heather Romine (Scott), Bryanna Wyatt; great-grandchildren, Jack Workman, Maggie Workman, Eli Conover, Glenn Conover, Mason Romine, Kinsey Romine, Ty Romine; several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, June Terry; son, Eugene Workman; grandson, Bryan Workman; parents; three sisters; a twin sister and three brothers.

In keeping with Bob’s wishes, cremation will take place and a celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Dennis W. Aud officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
