Two people were found dead from gunshot wounds inside a Columbus home in the 2200 block of Sumpter Court on Monday night, a police spokesman said.

Lt. Matt Harris said in press released Tusday morning that Columbus police detectives are conducting a death investigation. Names of the deceased were not immediately released.

At approximately 8:55 p.m. Monday, CPD officers responded to a 911 call of a reported shooting at the residence. When officers arrived, they entered the home and found two people deceased inside with gunshot wounds.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, detectives believe that there was an argument inside the home involving two people prior to the shooting. The detectives also said that there are no known threats of violence that would affect community safety.

Harris said the names of both deceased persons will be released by the Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office once family notifications have been made.
