COLUMBUS
Hazel Sparks, 82, of Columbus, IN passed away at 3:34 p.m. Saturday, December 24, 2022 at Our Hospice Inpatient Facility. Hazel was born in Miamitown, OH on November 5, 1940 to Lester Pennington and Linnie Rutherford Pennington.
Hazel retired from Aisin USA Manufacturing after 17 years of service. She was a devoted grandmother and enjoyed doing needlework, gardening and flowers.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Ballard officiating. Calling will be from 4 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her son, Kevin Earl (Laura) Sparks of Milton, KY; brothers, Wilbur “Pete” (Naomi) Pennington of Brookville, IN, Robert “Bob” (Kim) Pennington of Taylorsville, IN and Charles “Chuck” (Charlene) Pennington of Seymour, IN; sisters, Geraldine (Carl) Pierce of Sunman, IN, Joy Marsh of Laurel, IN and Betty Jo McDaniel of Brookville, IN; grandchildren, Tonja (Scott) Yarling of Shelbyville, IN, Shawn A. (Jamie) Riley of Columbus, IN, Devan Sparks of Columbus, IN, Chelsey (Brandon) Auxier of Madison, IN, Shelby Jo Gorbett of Columbus, IN, Kyle (Kim) Sparks of Milton, KY and Mitchell Sparks of Milton, KY; several step-grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sheila McNeeley; grandson, Shane Anthony Lucas; brothers, Virgil Pennington, Raymond Pennington and Jacob Lee Pennington; sisters, Dorothy Wright and Irene Wells.
