COLUMBUS, INDIANA
Robert Ray Rice, 79, of Columbus, passed away Monday January 2, 2023 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Ray was born July 8, 1943 in Hyden, Kentucky, the son of Robert and Hazel (Couch) Rice.
Ray was retired from Milestone Construction with 30 years of service. He enjoyed any outdoor activities. He was especially fond of deep-sea fishing in Florida, bass fishing in Brown County, hunting, camping and gardening.
Funeral services will be held in Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home on Friday January 6, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastors Jerry Rice and Judy Slater officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Garland Brook Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Ray is survived by his wife of 60 years, Louise (Johnson) Rice whom he married on April 27, 1962; daughters, Judy (Chad Klindt) Combs and LaDonna Rollins, all of Columbus; brother, Jerry (Brenda) Rice of Panco, Kentucky; sisters, Judy (Chuck) Stater of Madison, Indiana and Dixie Collins of Austin, Indiana; grandchildren, Cameron Combs, Alex Combs, Justin Allman, Johnny Allman and Misty Morton and great grandchildren, Torin and Willow Allman. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Connie Lou Rice and Teresa Lanham and a sister, Teresa Ritchie.
