Three Columbus police officers who administered life-saving aid to a man in his home were awarded letters of commendation by Chief of Police Michael Richardson this week.

Columbus Police Officers Aaron Graham, Tyler Boswell along with Sgt. Lukas Nibarger were officially commended for their actions in helping save the life of a man who was suffering a medical emergency.

On Nov. 28, Graham, Boswell and Nibarger responded to the 900 block of Third Street in regards to a medical emergency. When the officers arrived, they found that the patient was unconscious and did not have a pulse.

Working in tandem, the officers utilized their training and provided cardio-pulmonary resuscitation to the patient. An AED was also deployed that resulted in two shocks being provided to the patient. The patient, who was not identified in a CPD news release, regained a pulse and began breathing on his own a short time later and was transported to a local hospital.

“Our officers are dispatched to a variety of calls for assistance. I am proud of the quick thinking and quality care provided by these officers which was critical to the positive outcome,” Richardson said.
