FREETOWN
Gerald Dean Lee, age 82, a native of Indianapolis, Indiana and a resident of Freetown, Indiana, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023 at his residence. He was born on August 19, 1940 to the late Clarence Lee and the late Ruth (Zigler) Lee.
He attended First Baptist Church in Freetown, Indiana. On June 6, 1981, married Penny McKinney and together they shared 42 years. Some of his hobbies included coon hunting, running his dogs, rabbit hunting, selling watermelons and cantaloupes at the farmers market, going to auctions, NASCAR races and loved watching sports on TV. Above all, nothing compared to the love he had for his family.
He is survived by his wife Penny (McKinney) Lee of Freetown, Indiana, two sons, Todd Lee and his wife Susan of Greenwood, Indiana and Eric Darlage and his wife Erin of Seymour, Indiana. Two daughters, Sally Campbell of Columbus, Indiana and Amy Darlage of Medora, Indiana. One sister, Carolyn Imlay and her husband Darryl of Hartsville, Indiana. Eleven grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Monica Myers, one grand daughter, Heather Campbell and nine brothers, George Lee, Lloyd Lee, Roy Lee, Bud Lee, Bill Lee, Dave Lee, Donald Lee, Kenneth Lee and Bob Lee. Two sisters, Louise McComas and Mary Knose.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 10, 2023 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. at Christensen Family Funeral Home with services beginning at 1:00 PM.
He will be laid to rest at Hope Cemetery.
