COLUMBUS
Cynthia (Cindy) Lou McQueen, 66, of Columbus, IN passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Seymour Crossing Rehabilitation Center following a series of complicated illnesses.
Born on April 23, 1957, in Columbus, Cindy was the daughter of Franklin D. and Betty A. McQueen. Cindy graduated from Hauser High School in 1975 where she was active as a Hauserette and a member of the Hauser Show Choir. Participating in these creative outlets developed her confidence and a lovely voice.
Prior to her retirement from Centra Credit Union as a Customer Service concierge in 2020, Cindy primarily worked in the hospitality field. She served as Banquet Coordinator for Old Holiday Inn and later as a Waitress/Trainer for Bob Evans in Columbus before moving to San Diego, CA in 1989. Cindy was a dedicated Assistant/Manager at several CoCo’s Restaurants in San Diego, CA for over 35 years. She returned to Columbus in 2016.
Cindy loved life and interacting with others. Known as a generous, quick-witted woman who enjoyed a good laugh, she shared her observations and opinions freely. Cindy had a soft spot for animals, but especially for her beloved cats, Stinker and Goobie. Other passions included travelling, music, boardgames, collecting antiques, hummingbirds, and stained glass.
Cindy’s surviving family members include her mother, Betty A. (Waltz) McQueen of Hope, IN, and siblings, Patricia (Peter) Carlton-McQueen of Albuquerque, NM, David (Annette) McQueen of Flat Rock, James (Teresa) McQueen of Hartsville, and Tami McQueen of Hope. She leaves behind nine nieces and nephews and twelve great-nieces and nephews. We deeply miss her tender heart and fun-loving spirit.
Her father, Franklin D. McQueen, brother Allen D. McQueen, and infant sister, Marchita McQueen preceded her in death.
Family and friends are invited to participate in a celebration of Cindy’s life on Sunday, July 9th from 3-5PM at Norman Funeral Home, Hope, IN. Her cremains will be interred within the Mausoleum Wall at the Hope Moravian Cemetery.
