The South Central Indiana Master Gardener Association will present “What’s Eating My Plants? Destructive and Beneficial Insects in the Garden” at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 8.
The presentation will be held at the historic Henry Breeding Farm, 13730 N. County Road 100W, Edinburgh. Attendees should park to the right of the drive, in the labeled parking area. The presentation will be held in the barn.
Guest speaker Barbara Hass Jacobus will focus on diagnosing “what’s eating my plants?” followed by a focus on management of insect pests as well as providing a welcoming environment for beneficial insects as part of a pest management program. Attendees are encouraged to bring questions about preventing insect damage, including photos of damage for a possible diagnosis and treatment plan.
Hass Jacobus is a Master Gardener intern, and holds a PhD in plant genetics and molecular biology from Purdue University. She is a teaching professor in biology at IUPUC.
The association is the local chapter of Purdue Extension Master Gardeners, and hosts public events and educational sessions throughout the year in the Columbus area.
