Flood watch in effect due to forecast of heavy rain tonight

COLUMBUS, Ind. — The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch in effect from 5 p.m. today through the evening.

Excessive rainfall could cause flash flooding in the area, according to weather forecasters and Bartholomew County Emergency Management. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible.

Rainfall totals could be 1 to 2 inches along with isolated areas that could receive 3 inches of rain, the National Weather Service said.
