COLUMBUS, Ind. — Due to extreme high temperatures this afternoon and Thursday, the city of Columbus has opened a cooling station from 1 to 6 p.m. today and Thursday at Donner Center, 739 22nd St.

The cooling station will offer a location for individuals who do not have air conditioning to visit and cool off. Amenities such as food, showers or places for sleep are not available.

Bartholomew County Emergency Management is monitoring weather conditions and will determine if additional days will be added for the cooling station.
