Victoria L. (Seelig) Bateman

COLUMBUS, IN

Victoria L. (Seelig) Bateman, 72, of Columbus, IN died at her home on August 22, 2023. Mrs. Bateman was born on October 18, 1950, at the LaGrange County Hospital in LaGrange, IN to Lester W. and Alberta L. (Mireley) Seelig. Vickie grew up in LaGrange and was a 1968 graduate of Lakeland High School and she continued to be a Laker through her luncheons with her Lady Laker lunch group. After moving to the Columbus, IN she was a volunteer coordinator with the Bartholomew County United Way – Thrive Alliance. She was a volunteer for many years at the Columbus Regional Hospital. Vickie loved to be with her family and watching her grandchildren in their activities and enjoyed traveling, especially to historic places. She loved to listen, sing, and dance to 60’s music. On July 6, 1968, in LaGrange, IN she became Mrs. Samuel C. Bateman; Sam preceded her in death on May 12, 2018. Surviving are her children and their spouses, Kirk Bateman of Indianapolis, IN, Kristin (Jonathan) Martin of Columbus, IN, Brent Bateman of Columbus, IN, Ryan (Amanda) Bateman of Seymour, IN; her six grandchildren, Emma Martin, Krea Martin, Ryleigh Bateman, Claire Bateman, Keller Bateman, and Wyatt Bateman; her sister and brother-in-law, Debra (Jan) VanZant of Warsaw, IN; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, William W. (Sheryl) Seelig of Trinity, FL, and Michael D. Seelig of Fort Wayne, IN; and her niece and nephews and their spouses, Tim (Kim) Seelig, Kim (Eric) Shay, and Darren (Danielle) Schlemmer. Preceding Vickie in death along with her husband, were her parents, a brother, Stephen Seelig and a sister-in-law, Ruby Seelig. A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2023, from 2-5 pm at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, IN. A private burial will take place at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange, IN.
