Trinity tops East in third-place match

BROWNSTOWN — Class A No. 6 Trinity Lutheran volleyball edged Columbus East 25-21, 24-26, 15-13 in the third-place match of Saturday’s Brownstown Central Invitational.

The Olympians fell to Brownstown 21-25, 25-23, 15-13 and Mitchell 17-25, 25-21, 15-13; beat East Central 26-24, 23-25, 17-15 before falling to Trinity. The Cougars beat Seymour 25-13, 25-15 and Bloomington South 25-16, 35-33 and lost to Jasper 25-18, 25-23 before beating East.

Addie Darlage led Trinity (5-6) with 70 assists and nine aces. Carson Bowling pounded 27 kills, Madison Keith had 12 blocks and Laura Roeder notched 49 digs.

Also for the Cougars, Keith recorded 22 kills and 19 digs, Ava Blomenberg added 18 kills and Roeder tallied six assists and 44 aces. Darlage notched 22 digs, and Roeder served eight aces.

Caroline Frost led the Olympians (3-5) with 28 kills, three block assists and eight aces. Krea Martin recorded 78 assists, and Chloe Gilley notched 57 digs.

Also for East, Jenna Guse tallied 22 kills, 31 digs and four aces; and Addison Emery added three kills 18 digs and three aces. Lilah Klei contributed 20 kills and two block assists, Anika Jenkins had one solo block and Kimberly Carothers pounded three kills.
