COLUMBUS, Ind. — A local man was arrested Wednesday morning on several charges after striking two CPD patrol vehicles during a short pursuit. At approximately 9:10 a.m., CPD officers observed Randall S. Brown, 42, of Columbus, who is a suspect in a case involving a protection order violation, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
Officers attempted to stop Brown while he was operating a vehicle near Columbus City Hall on Second Street, however, he continued driving north in a nearby alley and turned on to Third Street. Moments later, Brown attempted to turn his vehicle around on Third Street and struck a pick-up truck. Officers attempted to box Brown’s truck in and he reportedly put his vehicle in reverse striking and damaging the two CPD patrol vehicles. After a short stand-off, Brown was taken into custody, Harris said.
Brown was placed under arrest and remanded to the Bartholomew County Jail with a 48 hour hold on the following preliminary charges: Invasion of privacy (violation of a protective order), resisting law enforcement in a vehicle, and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, Harris said.
