The Care for Our Common Home Ministry of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church will host “Living Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home from Global to Local” on October 3 at 7:00 p.m. in the church’s parish hall located at 1306 27th Street in Columbus, Indiana.
The speaker for the event is Andy Miller representing the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Laudato Si’ Action Platform. His presentation will include sharing more about the Laudato Si’ movement globally and tracing the movement through the United States, across the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and down to your own home.
The Laudato Si’ Platform is a global initiative of the Vatican kicking off a seven-year effort to increase the Church’s ecological practices. It is inspired by Pope Francis’s 2015 Encyclical “Laudato Si’ On Care for Our Common Home. (An encyclical is an official letter written by the Pope to make a statement about the teachings of the Church.) Laudato Si’ focuses on care for the natural environment and all people as well as broader questions of the relationship between God, humans and the Earth. The Laudato Si’ platform seeks to equip all people to achieve real and lasting solutions to the ecological crisis with one purpose -concrete actions to protect our common home.
Anyone interested in environmental issues is welcome to come to the event.
