ISP arrests Seymour man accused of possession of child pornography

SEYMOUR — Indiana State Police Versailles Post detectives arrested a 21-year-old Seymour man on charges of possession of child pornography and possession of false government identification after serving a search warrant at a Seymour residence Wednesday.

The investigation began in July 2023 when a cybertip was forwarded from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to the Indiana State Police Versailles Post.  Through investigative techniques, detectives were able to determine that an individual at a residence on Peak Avenue in Seymour was in possession of child pornography.  Detectives then identified a potential suspect as Samuel Diego-Nicolas, 21.

On Wednesday, Indiana State Police troopers and detectives, with the assistance of the Seymour Police Department, served a search warrant at the Seymour residence.  During the service of the search warrant, numerous false government identification cards were located.

Diego-Nicolas was not initially located at the home, state police said.  He was soon located at a second address in Seymour. Additional evidence of the crime of possession of child pornography was located when he was detained by detectives.

Diego-Nicolas was arrested and transported to the Jackson County Jail on a Level four felony charge of possession of child pornography and a misdemeanor charge of possession of false government identification, state police said.
