The Columbus Police Department Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team and Intelligence Led Policing Unit have been investigating Todd Bergeron’s criminal activities for approximately a year and a half, Harris said. Bergeron was a target of a previous investigation that led to a search warrant being executed by CPD SWAT on a residence in the 1400 block of Lafayette
Avenue last month.

The most recent investigation into Bergeron ensued from an incident on Sept. 12, when CPD patrol officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on Bergeron after he committed traffic violations on a bicycle in the 1400 block of Lafayette Avenue. Bergeron fled from police and began discarding items including a small backpack. Bergeron was unable to be located, however, suspected fentanyl and fentanyl paraphernalia were located in his backpack along with his ID card, Harris said.
On Sept. 15, a warrant was issued for Bergeron’s arrest stemming from his actions on Sept. 12th. The arrest warrant was for possession of a narcotic drug (fentanyl) as a Level 6 felony, resisting law enforcement as a Class A misdemeanor and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bergeron was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail and remanded on the Bartholomew County felony arrest warrant along with new preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement, possession of a narcotic drug and possession of methamphetamine.
