On Sunday afternoon, Sept. 24, celebrate Archaeology Month with the Jennings County Historical Society and Darrin Rubino, professor of biology at Hanover College, from 2 to 4 p.m. Professor Rubino will present a program called “Make Timber Talk: Using Tree Rings to Date the Construction of Historic Buildings.” Thru splices of wood from log homes, barns and buildings, Rubino illustrates how to date the age of construction.

Light refreshments will be served and there will be plenty of time for questions. Reservations are not required. The program is free to the public and takes place at the society’s Museum in Vernon, 134 E. Brown Street.

Also, join us for the annual Ghost Walk and Mystery Dinner on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 20 and 21. The event takes place at the historical society and around the square in Vernon.
