Hauser boys second; South Decatur boys, girls fifth in Big Pumpkin Invite

VERSAILLES — The Hauser boys cross-country team ran to a second-place finish ont of nine teams Thursday in South Ripley’s Big Pumpkin Invitational.

Milan won the boys meet with 25 points to 64 for the Jets. South Decatur finished fifth with 135.

Colin Kistler led Hauser with a fourth place finish in 17 minutes, 55.8 seconds for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles). Nolan Dailey took fifth in 18:04.0, while Mason Moore was 17th (19:54.7), Kase Meister 21st (20:14.9), Collin Buck 25th (20:36.5), Braydon McFarland 26th (20:36.6) and Koleson Gernetz 46th (22:21.3).

Nicholas Hunter finished 15th in 19:27.8 to lead the Cougars. Donovan Hale took 16th in 19:45.6, while Conner Newby was 27th (20:39.1), Logan Wilkinson 47th (22:24.1), Keaton Troutman 55th (23:17.7), Bob Tryon 60th (24:32.2) and Josh Chastain 65th (27:29.6).

South Decatur’s girls finished fifth with 117 points. South Dearborn beat Southwestern (Hanover) for the title on the sixth-runner tiebreaker after both teams scored 42 points.

Clair Schoettmer led the Cougars with an 22nd-place finish in 25:33.7. Brayley Sundal took 32nd in 26:47.3, while Mary Schwering was 38th (27:57.5), Bri Benefiel 45th (28:48.8), Brooklyn Ortman 49th (20:25.7) and Andrea Brogan 52nd (30:56.9).

Hauser had two girls runners. Lucie Asher finished 37th in 27:56.0, and Addison Dailey was 54th in 31:22.8.
