Take a step back in time to Indiana’s pioneer days as your family enjoys experiencing the history and natural beauty of Southern Indiana at our annual Log Cabin Day, Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Regude, presented by the Muscatatuck Wildlife Society.
The day’s family friendly activities take place at the Myers Family Cabin and Barn honoring the people who made this property and neighboring areas their homes so many years ago and learn all about how they lived in the late 1800’s.
Everyone is invited to the Refuge and historic Myers Cabin to enjoy all the day’s free activities including old-time entertainment, storytelling, Myers Cabin tour, pioneer demonstrations, fun children’s activities, shuttle rides to the Refuge’s closed area, Chore-Corral where kids try chores from yesteryear and a complimentary ham and bean lunch home cooked on an open fire with homemade cornbread.
And for all those who enjoy the outdoors, Log Cabin Day occurs during National Wildlife Refuge Week, Oct. 8-14, when visitors can explore the Refuge’s hiking trails, birding and spectacular fall colors, along with the Nature Center and Bookstore/Gift Shop.
