After many, many years of traveling to Bloomington for the boys tennis regional, Columbus North won’t have to go on the bus this year because it is the host of the regional on Tuesday and Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the second-ranked Bull Dogs will take on Seymour in one regional semifinal at 4:45 p.m., and Batesville plays Austin in the other semifinal contest at 5:30 p.m. The regional final is slated for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Columbus North will be the heavy favorite to advance to Saturday’s Center Grove semistate, where they will be on a possible collision course to meet with No. 12 Center Grove in a rematch from earlier in the season. The Bull Dogs defeated the Trojans 3-2 during the regular season.
Soccer sectional begins
The boys and girls soccer sectional for Columbus North and Columbus East begins on Tuesday. The boys sectional is hosted by Columbus North and the girls sectional is hosted by Whiteland.
On the boys side, Columbus East takes on Franklin at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Columbus North will play in the second game at around 8 p.m. Tuesday against Greenwood. The winner of those matches will play in one semifinal game at around 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The other semifinal has Roncalli facing the winner of Monday’s match between Franklin Central and Whiteland at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The championship is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday.
Hauser’s boys drew a bye and will play Indianapolis Lutheran at 5 p.m. Thursday in the semifinals of the Class A Lutheran Sectional. The winner will face Southwestern (Shelby), Indiana Math and Science or Covenant Christian in the final at 2 p.m. Saturday.
On the girls side, Columbus North will face off with host Whiteland at around 8 p.m. Wednesday. Franklin will play Roncalli at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The winners of those game will meet in one semifinal contest at around 8 p.m. Thursday.
Columbus East drew a bye and will face the winner of Tuesday’s Greenwood-Franklin Central winner in the other semifinal at 6 p.m. Thursday. The championship is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday.
Football drawings set for Sunday
The football sectional draw for this year is slated for 6 p.m. Sunday. It will be livestreamed at IHSAAtv.org.
Columbus North will be in a 6A sectional with Center Grove, Franklin Central and Jeffersonville. Columbus East will be in a 5A sectional with Bloomington North, Bloomington South and Seymour.
Miller commits to IU Columbus
Kayden Miller
Hauser senior Kayden Miller recently made her commitment to continue her academic and volleyball career at IU Columbus. She will be joined by senior teammate Kenze Bostic, who made her announcement to play for the Crimson Pride last month.
