A local man with a felony parole warrant was arrested early Tuesday morning after he was accused of attempting to destroy narcotics during a traffic stop.
At approximately 5:30 a.m., CPD officers initiated a traffic stop on a moped near McClure Road and Parkway Drive. The officers noted that moped’s operator, Jacob E. Shutters, 26, of Columbus, repeatedly reached for the side of the moped and dropped a plastic bag containing narcotics on the ground during his encounter with the officers, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
Shutters stepped on the bag of narcotics before officers placed him under arrest moments later. The officers also recovered a small amount of fentanyl and determined that Shutters had a felony parole warrant for his arrest, Harris said.
Shutters was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl and a felony parole warrant.
