Fireworks set after Festival of Lights

Two local businesses plan to sponsor a fireworks show that will follow this year’s Columbus Festival of Lights on Dec. 2.

The Columbus Board of Works voted on Tuesday to approve an event application from Annette Donica-Blythe with RE/MAX to offer fireworks after the parade.

RE/MAX and Zaharako’s are sponsoring the show, which will be coordinated with three radio stations, said Donica-Blythe.

According to city engineering technician Aimee Morris, organizers are working with J&M Displays, and it’s hoped that parade spectators will either stay where they are to watch the display or view it from their cars, as it should be visible throughout downtown.

The time for the fireworks show is to be determined, as it will depend on how long the parade lasts, she added.

According to the Columbus Festival of Lights website, the parade will begin at 6 p.m. on Dec. 2. There are also plans for a QMIX Christmas Musical Fireworks show at CERAland at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 1 and festive downtown activities leading up to the parade.
