Cheerleaders from both Columbus North and East high schools will be competing at the most magical place on earth in early 2024.

The two teams are headed to the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) National High School Cheerleading Championship, which will be held at the Walt Disney World Resort from Feb. 9 to Feb. 12.

Both cheer programs qualified thanks to their performance at the UCA Ohio Regional on Oct. 29, with East winning the Medium Varsity Game Day Finals and North coming in second for the Medium Varsity Non Tumbling Game Day Finals.

“Your Olympian cheerleaders are bringing home 1st place from the Ohio Regional!” East’s cheer program shared on social media. “And secured a bid for Nationals…we are headed to DISNEY!”

Coach Sarah Frasier confirmed that North’s Game Day Cheer Squad also qualified for nationals. She added that North and East are in two different divisions this year, so they are not competing against each other.

“Next, North will compete at the Hoosier Regional cheer competition on Sunday, Nov. 19 in Fishers,” she said. “This will be another qualifying competition for Nationals. We are looking to improve our scores and make changes based on the judges’ comments to make us better.”
