MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Mitchel Collier caught the first touchdown pass of his collegiate career Tuesday to help Central Michigan to a 37-31 Mid-American Conference win against Northern Illinois.

Collier, a redshirt sophomore tight end from Columbus North, caught a 20-yard scoring pass from Jase Bauer midway through the second quarter. It was Collier’s only catch of the game.
The Chippewas (5-4, 3-2) visit Western Michigan on Tuesday.
Hammons TD in win
CONWAY, Ark. — Luke Hammons scored his first collegiate touchdown Saturday in Centre (Ky.) College’s 47-29 Southern Athletic Association win at Hendrix.

Hammons, a sophomore quarterback from Columbus North, carried four times for 22 yards and a touchdown, a 14-yard run in the fourth quarter. He had thrown for a touchdown earlier this season against Millsaps.
The Colonels (5-4, 5-2) wrap up the regular season Saturday against Birmingham-Southern.
Essick tallies tackles
HANOVER — Connor Essick recorded three solo and one assisted tackle Saturday in Anderson’s 69-0 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference loss at Hanover.

Essick, a sophomore linebacker from Columbus North, also had a pass breakup for the Ravens (0-9, 0-6). He ranks fourth on the team with 40 total tackles.

Sabotin helps UIndy to wins
INDIANAPOLIS — Hannah Sabotin recorded seven kills, two block assists, three digs and two aces Saturday to help University of Indianapolis to a 25-21, 25-19, 25-23 Great Lakes Valley Conference win against Truman State on her senior night.

Sabotin, a Columbus resident and Trinity Lutheran graduate, led the Greyhounds with 15 kills and eight blocks and added six digs and an ace in Friday’s 25-20, 19-25, 25-23, 25-17 win against Upper Iowa.

Gilley notches digs, assists for ISU
Cadence Gilley recorded five digs and one assist Saturday in Indiana State’s 25-14, 25-18, 25-10 Missouri Valley Conference loss at Drake.

Jaynes scores 6 in opener
AMES, Iowa — Sydney Jaynes scored six points Saturday in Butler’s 82-55 season-opening loss at Iowa State.
