COLUMBUS
Gregory E. Franke, 75, of Columbus, passed away at 12:00 p.m. Sunday, December 17, 2023 at his home.
Greg was born January 12, 1948, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Maurice and Romilda Franke. On October 21, 1995 he married Brenda Doris Young.
Mr. Franke worked as a machine operator for Reliance Electrical Machine Company for many years before retiring. In his earlier years, Greg helped with the family dairy business. He enjoyed being outdoors and gardening. He also liked to watch sports on TV, NASCAR racing and took up the hobby of collecting baseballs and softballs.
Survivors include his sons, Tim Franke, Scott Franke, Brad Franke, all of Columbus; granddaughter, Jennifer (Brandon) Kelso; great-granddaughters, Chloe Jackson, Kayleigh Kelso; step-daughter, Courtney Newcomb; sister, Linda Lowe, also of Columbus; seven nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Brenda; sister, Glenna Lindsey and daughter-in-law, Abygaile Daniels.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.
