Lancers win one, lose one; will play for third

Connor Ramey

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh started strong in its own tournament Wednesday afternoon, but couldn’t carry that momentum into Wednesday night’s semifinals.

The Lancers fell behind 17-2 against Jac-Cen-Del in the semis and couldn’t recover in a 53-33 defeat.

“We dug too big of a hole, and we just didn’t come out ready to go,” Edinburgh coach Devin Burton said. “Ultimately, that’s probably on me, and I’ll take responsibility for that. My kids work hard and bust their butts. I’ll do a better job of getting them prepared moving forward.”

Rylan Londeree led the Lancers with nine points. Connor Ramey added eight.

Ramey scored 20 points to lead Edinburgh to a 60-24 first-round win against Victory College Prep. Avynn Whitaker scored eight, and Lucas Seegers, Jackson Hartwell and Londeree all added seven.

“We came out ready to go and got everybody involved,” Burton said. “It was a good game for us to have and get a good win. Unfortunately, we didn’t get that carryover into tonight’s game.”

The Lancers (6-4) will play Austin in the third-place game at 6 p.m. Thursday. Hauser will face Jac-Cen-Del for the title at 8 p.m.
