Bull Dogs win, lose; will play for third at Scottsburg

SCOTTSBURG — The Columbus North girls basketball team won one and lost one Wednesday to put itself in the third-place game of the Scottsburg Tournament.

The Bull Dogs opened with a 73-43 win against Eastern (Pekin). The Bull Dogs raced to a 43-23 halftime lead and cruised from there.

Ava Wilson led North with 14 points. Kaylie Harmon and Miley McClellan each scored 12, and Paige Terry added nine.

The Bull Dogs fell to Franklin Central 59-48 in the semifinals. North fell behind 15-2 after one quarter and couldn’t recover.

Avery Johnson led the Bull Dogs with 18 points. Harmon scored 14, and McClellan added 10.

North (9-6) will play host Scottsburg in the third-place game at 4:15 p.m. Thursday.
