Jennings wins girls regional; East takes third

CAMPBELLSBURG — Jennings County captured the girls wrestling West Washington Regional on Saturday, while Columbus East finished third and Columbus North took ninth.

The Panthers scored 121 points to 107 for runner-up Jeffersonville and 75 for the Olympians. North finished with 18 points.

Jennings was led by champions Sasha Hicks (115 pounds), Violetta Gomez (120) and Mackynzi Harris (170). Kaylee Hatton (105), Harlie Winningham (190) and Adyson Sorenson (235) all finished second; while Eliza Leslie (130), Bell Miller (135) and Katherin Bruner (155) took third and Addie Otte (110) was fourth.

East’s Eden Knight (145) and Monica McMahon (190) won sectional titles. Taylor Engelking (115) and Allison Pool (170) finished second, and Tienica Dits (100) and Madison Mount (140) took third.

North’s Lilly Breedlove finished second at 130, and Reggie Holguin placed fourth at 140.
